The three core inputs

Loan amount: the amount you're actually borrowing — not the property value for a home loan. If the property is ₹50 lakh and you're putting ₹10 lakh down, enter ₹40 lakh, not ₹50 lakh. Reading the results panel

Monthly EMI: your fixed monthly payment. This doesn't change unless your interest rate changes (on a floating-rate loan) or you add a prepayment.

Total interest: the total extra amount you pay the bank over the full tenure, on top of what you borrowed. This is often the most surprising number on the page — a ₹30 lakh loan at 8.5% over 20 years can mean well over ₹30 lakh in interest alone, roughly matching or exceeding the principal itself.

Loan-free date: the estimated date of your final payment, calculated from today based on your current tenure and any prepayments you've added.

Cost per ₹1 borrowed: a quick way to see your total repayment cost per rupee borrowed, including interest — useful for comparing loan offers at a glance without doing the maths yourself.

Monthly income needed: an estimate based on the common guideline that your EMI shouldn't exceed roughly 30% of your monthly income — a useful sanity check on whether a loan amount is realistic for your budget before you apply.

Principal vs interest donut chart: shows what share of your total repayment is returning the loan versus paying for the cost of borrowing. Hover or tap either segment for the exact rupee amount and percentage. A large interest share relative to principal is normal on long tenures — it isn't a sign of a bad loan, just a reflection of how reducing-balance interest compounds over time.

Adding a prepayment
